RENEWABLE HEATING

This revolutionary technology adds an element of the heat which would under normal circumstances be generated only by the compressor, thus allowing the compressor or compressors to either unload or simply deliver the required heat to the facility much faster.

The more the sun shines, the more the solar takes over the heating of the gas and therefore more power is saved. The natural, renewable, free heating of the refrigerant in the solar collector allows the compressor to reduce its load, therefore its power burn also.

RENEWABLE HEATING

Sun levels dependent, the heating capacity vs. power consumption rating of over 8 COP is possible, as the compressor can now act mainly as the pump providing the necessary cycle flow and allows the sun to provide a credible supplement of heat.

The design of the thermal collector means that the ambient external temperature has little to no impact on the temperature of the refrigerant.

HERE IS HOW ITS WORKS:

The system’s compressor engages, pressurizing and heating the gaseous refrigerant, which then flows to the indoor heating condenser.

The logic control for the solar system now measures the temperature available in the collector.

When renewable heat is available, the logic control opens and allows the refrigerant leaving the compressor to flow through the thermal collector.

The now hotter refrigerant flows through to the heating condenser.

Inverter, VRF/VRV & multi-stage systems will recognize the additional available heating and will stage down. Reducing consumed energy.

Fixed speed, single compressor systems will work for shorter periods. Reducing consumed energy.

Average energy consumption reduction over the normal baseline can exceed 35%.

CAN SOLAR THERMAL BE USED ON THE COOLING SIDE OF HVAC-R?

In short, absolutely. Solar thermal cooling has been around for many years now, with many successful applications. It is however only viable in warmer, year-round climates and unlike the heating application, can only be installed on specified types of system.
